EMTA works to develop an orderly marketplace, and to facilitate Emerging Markets trading and investment, by developing and recognizing Market Practices, undertaking projects to identify, clarify and minimize trading and settlement risks, promoting consistency between local and international trading standards, and increasing international understanding of local markets. EMTA holds an Annual Meeting each December in New York City and sponsors annual Summer and Winter Forums in London and Spring and Fall Forums in New York City, all of which offer market participants the opportunity to hear leading industry analysts. EMTA also serves as a continuing source of market information, disseminating data such as price and volume statistics, news on country reschedulings and Key Industry Views and information regarding New Developments in the marketplace.
EMTA also works to build, promote and inspire confidence in the Emerging Markets asset class in part by clarifying and promoting investor rights across all instrument categories.
EMTA's role in helping to integrate the Emerging Markets more fully into the global capital marketplace has led to extensive collaboration with other industry associations, including Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), the International Securities Market Association (ISMA) and the Loan Syndications and Trading Association (LSTA).
