Mark L. Coombs

Mark Coombs is Managing Director of Ashmore Investment Management Limited (previously ANZ Emerging Markets Fund Management Limited) and Chairman of the Investment Committee. He has been Chairman of the Investment Committee since its inception in 1992, and has been responsible for setting overall investment strategy of funds managed.
Following its acquisition by Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ), Mr. Coombs was appointed Head of Emerging Markets Group for ANZ Merchant Bank Limited in 1988 and in 1991 became Head of the International Merchant Banking Division of ANZ Grindlays Bank plc and in 1997 Head of Markets for ANZ Group. Mr. Coombs joined Grindlays Bank plc in 1983.
Mr. Coombs holds a M.A. (Hons) in Law from Cambridge University.
Mr. Coombs currently serves as EMTA Co-Chair. He previously served as ANZ’s representative on EMTA's Board from 1993-1999 and was re-elected to the EMTA Board in January 2000.
